Evado Filip™ is focused on providing solutions designed to keep us in touch with those who matter most. It's products combine the two most important elements in family mobile offerings – communications and safety.
In 2009, Evado Filip Founder and CEO Sten Kirkbak lost his young son, Filip, in a shopping mall. Although Filip was ultimately found, like any parent, Sten panicked. As a result of the harrowing experience, which almost every parent has felt at one time, he realized there needed to be a simple way for kids to reach their parents, and parents to find their children quickly and easily. When Sten dug deeper, he found there was no single device that blended communication, location, ease of use and appealing design. From this experience, Evado Filip was born.
In January 2013, the company introduced the VIVOplay™, what is believed to be the smallest commercially available mobile communications and location device1 designed to help families keep in touch in situations where existing location devices fail or are not appropriate.
With VIVOplay, children can easily reach their parents when they need to, and not only can parents call and speak to their children, but they can find their location in the event of an emergency using a specially-designed app on their smartphone. VIVOplay delivers all the benefits and independence of a cell phone and minimizes the concerns that keep parents from buying mobile phones for children aged 5-12. VIVOplay is flexible enough to be worn as a wristwatch or fit into custom accessories to meet changing tastes and keep it from getting misplaced.
VIVOplay addresses a market need. According to U.S. Department of Justice, there are 800,000 missing children reports each year. A 2012 Harris Interactive survey found that one in three parents in the United States with children between the ages of 6 and 12 want them to have a mobile device to reach them in the event of an emergency. The same survey also found that while parents want to stay in touch with their children, they are concerned about costs and the dangers of cell phones, as well as children losing their phones.
Evado Filip believes this is just the beginning. The company sees applications in a number of other markets where location and communications intersect including uses such as keeping the elderly safe.
Founded in 2010, Evado Filip is privately held with headquarters in London and U.S. offices in New York and Raleigh, North Carolina. VIVOplay was developed by a global team of engineers and is manufactured in the U.S. in partnership with AMTI.1 Based on internal battery and display with three different location technologies and the ability to call several phone numbers.
