Overview

Evado Filip is introducing what we believe to be the world’s smallest communications and location device that is specifically designed to keep children and parents in touch. We are the only company to seamlessly bring together the two most important elements in family mobile offerings - communications and safety – in such a small package. VIVOplay keeps families close in situations where existing location and communications technology fail.

To put it simply, VIVOplay allows children to easily reach their parents when they need to get in touch. VIVOplay also lets parents call their children and find their location in the event of an emergency via an app on their smartphone. This delivers all the benefits of a cell phone without the concerns that keep parents from buying mobile phones for children between the ages of 5-12. VIVOplay is flexible enough to be worn as a wristwatch, or fit into custom accessories to meet changing tastes and keep it from getting misplaced.

Why was the product developed?

Three years ago, Evado Filip’s founder, Sten Kirkbak, lost his son, Filip, in a shopping mall. Like any parent, he panicked. Ultimately, his son was found safe and sound, but as a result of the harrowing experience, which almost every parent has felt at one time, he realized there needed to be an easy way for kids to reach their parents, and parents to find their children quickly and easily.

When Sten dug deeper, he found there was no single device that blended communication, location ease of use and appealing design. From this Evado Filip was born. VIVOplay is the first product to address all three issues, offering peace of mind and independence with security.

What makes VIVOplay unique?

No other tracking device we know in this size blends communication and location like VIVOplay. Unlike other devices, VIVOplay combines GPS, Wi-Fi, cell tower triangulation and cellular voice capability to provide a more reliable, seamless communication - indoors and out. Additionally, VIVOplay’s location information is delivered to a smartphone so that a parent can easily find their child in the case of emergency.

Why is it better than a GPS tracker?

VIVOplay is better than a GPS tracker for two reasons.  First, GPS requires line-of-sight to the satellite network, so it has limited accuracy indoors or in large cities where line-of-sight is obscured by tall buildings.  VIVOplay uses cellular and Wi-Fi triangulation to supplement the GPS data so that the user can obtain a more accurate location in areas where GPS is limited.  Second, the inclusion of cellular technology into VIVOplay means that the parent and child can talk to each other.  The most accurate location data of all is the information that the child can give the parent by using VIVOplay as a cell phone.

Can’t I already do this with a cell phone or smartphone?

A December 2012 Harris survey found that while parents want to stay in touch with their children, they are concerned about cost or children losing their phones. Additionally, traditional smartphones open up the world of web surfing, cyber-bullying, sexting and other inappropriate activities. For these reasons, most parents do not want to give their children a smartphone until they reach age 12.

VIVOplay is the only device of its size on the market that can pinpoint location with accuracy that is at least as good as a smartphone.  And only VIVOplay offers the communications capability and security of a cell phone, without the risks.

Who can use VIVOplay?

Initially, we believe that parents and young children (ages 5-12) will use VIVOplay as a great way to give children independence while making it easy for them to reach their parents. VIVOplay also provides parents peace of mind with the ability to quickly call and locate their children. But this is just the beginning. Evado Filip sees applications in a number of other markets where location and communication intersect.

How does it work?

Once a parent purchases a VIVOplay, setup is an easy three-step process. Parents simply download the app to their iPhone or Android device, register, and add the phone numbers they want their kids to be able to call. It’s then ready to use.

The advanced functionality is just as easy to set up. The app can be used to create ‘safe zones’ by drawing a boundary around a location (such as a school or camp). If the child leaves the safe zone, the parent will immediately get a text or call. If the child loses the device – parents can just hit a button and VIVOplay will identify where it is.

How many phone numbers can my child call?

The basic VIVOplay allows the child to call up to five numbers programmed by the parent with just a push of the button. For example, the child could call his mother or father’s cell phones, the home phone, plus grandparents. The only numbers that can be called are those that are entered by the parent on their smartphone, so parents do not need to worry about who their child is speaking with.

Can I send my child text messages?

Yes. VIVOplay is designed to accept text messages only from approved people – Mom texting that “dinner is ready!” or grandparents texting “I love you”.

Can anyone call my child’s VIVOplay?

The number for the VIVOplay is never disclosed to the child by Evado Filip, so the only people can call it are those to whom the parents give the number.

Where will it work?

VIVOplay is designed to work effectively indoors and outdoors. Many tracking devices use only GPS, which has very limited coverage indoors or in large cities, where there is poor reception. This limits their usefulness in a lot of scenarios. VIVOplay uses GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular technologies to triangulate location effectively indoors and in cities.

When will the product be available?

Evado Filip already has working prototypes and will be conducting further beta testing over the next few months. We will begin to take pre-orders and will ship product in early summer. VIVOplay will be available for purchase in the U.S. on Evado Filip’s Website – www.evadofilip.com.

Where can I buy it?

Evado Filip will begin taking pre-orders for VIVOplay on our website soon. Make sure you register your interest so that we can notify you when pre-ordering begins. Over time we intend to add additional retail channels to provide our customers with more locations to buy VIVOplay.

How much will it cost?

We are committed to providing a product with competitive pricing that will meet the needs of parents with young children. Pricing is still being finalized but we anticipate that there will be an initial purchase price plus a low monthly subscription rate.

Can I get different colors?

VIVOplay will be available in a range of different colours and with a range of accessories. Stay tuned to our website for product announcements.

How long will the battery last?

VIVOplay’s battery is designed to last for 48 hours of everyday use and several days in standby mode. Customers can greatly increase the battery life by modifying how often VIVOplay “checks in” to automatically report a user’s location.

Is VIVOplay safe?

VIVOplay is safe and easy to use and will comply with applicable Federal rules and regulations.

What is your privacy policy?

We take privacy very seriously. We are in the process of developing our full privacy policy and will publish it on our website when we start taking pre-orders.
